An Innovative Solution for Grid Stability

grid stability

(Wiesbaden, March 8th, 2018) ABO Wind will present an innovative approach to grid stability at the “Energy Storage“ fair at stand D39 in hall 8B from March 13th to 15th, 2018 in Düsseldorf. A combination of photovoltaics and storage systems can help stabilise voltage variations of long cables with many consumers and minimise power losses. The advantages are clear: Blackouts become rarer and cable capacities are made better use of. Connected terminals work more reliably and more people can use the stabilised network. Thus ABO Wind is also creating the chance to enlarge the network by implementing additional photovoltaic plants and storage systems: eco-friendly, zero emission and without the use of diesel systems damaging to the climate.

“Our system offers efficient and eco-friendly solutions to problems shared by many developing and newly industrialised countries,” says Julian Gerstner, who will give a presentation on the topic on March 15th at the “Energy Storage” fair. As networks are too large and often connected to only one power plant, people do not reliably receive power at the end of the line. Thus they look for other power suppliers such as diesel generators. For network operators, additional grid expansion does not pay off, because people do not use the weak network at the end of the line. “This is where our system comes into play: We stabilise the existing network and, besides establishing security of supply, we create the conditions for network expansion,” Gerstner explains. Once the network has reached a critical size again, it can be stabilised by ABO Wind via another photovoltaics storage system. “Thanks to our long-standing experience, we know where in the existing grid our system needs to be implemented and how to plan the prospective expansion.” This makes ABO Wind an ideal partner for development assistance projects. Finally, in addition to the people profiting from an improved rural electrification via renewable energies, so does the climate.
