Strong Potential For Wind Energy

The Netherlands are a country with strong winds. Conditions are particularly favorable for the use of wind energy near the coasts. But wind farms can also be profitable in the interior of the country's surface of 42,548 square kilometers. Despite the good conditions, only around seven percent of the Dutch energy mix currently comes from renewable energies. Bioenergy is the most commonly used form of renewable energies in the Netherlands. The development of wind and solar energy is still lagging behind.

Government Promotes Renewable Energies

But this is supposed to change soon. The Dutch government promotes and funds the development of new wind turbines and thus increase the total installed wind energy capacity from 4,500 megawatts (as of 2018) to 6,000 megawatts in 2020. The Netherlands want to increase the percentage of renewable energies to an ambitious 14 percent of the Dutch energy mix.

ABO Wind has recognized the potential of the Dutch wind energy market and wants to play an active role in its expansion. In addition, the development of solar energy is very promising as well and ABO Wind wants to apply its expertise as an international developer of renewably energy projects in this field of work as well.
