(Wiesbaden, 9th December 2016) The ABO Wind managing board has raised its 2016 annual results forecast to over EUR 10 million. “Currently, we are expecting to surpass our very good result in 2015 of EUR 7.8 million by at least 30 percent,” says CEO Matthias Bockholt. ABO Wind’s profitability was strengthened by a continuing high demand from investors for wind farm projects and the accompanying good sales revenues.

The company’s success abroad also contributes to the good result. In Argentina, ABO Wind has sold project rights and options for six wind farms with a total of 350 megawatts. Thus for the first time in its ten year history, ABO Wind Argentina has contributed to the group’s annual profit in a significant way. ABO Wind sees further business opportunities in Latin America in selling additional project rights and as a general contractor for wind farm construction and photovoltaic systems.

The recently constructed Finnish wind farm Silovuori (26.4 megawatts) contributes to ABO Wind’s good annual result in 2016. By securing a tariff for two additional wind farms with a total of 50 megawatts, the Finnish subsidiary is likely to contribute even more to the 2017 annual result. “At the moment it seems very likely that ABO Wind will be successful in 2017 as well,” says Bockholt.

The CEO stresses that ABO Wind has gained foothold in several more countries. Germany as a home market remains central to the company’s success, while France continues to be its second most important market. “However, in face of the imminent transition to a tendering system in 2017 and the insecurities that come with it, diversification is more important than ever.” In the future ABO Wind sees opportunities to utilize its strengths in Iran, Canada and several regions in Africa.
