This is Erni Wind. He has a lot of energy. With his energy we can turn on the lights, cook dinner or watch television.
Erni Wind has power. He can fly a kite.
Erni Wind pushes sailing boats.
The wind turbine converts Erni's energy into electricity.
This is how it works:
Erni Wind sets the rotor blades of a wind turbine in motion.
A generator converts the motion energy into electricity.
By way of the transformer...
... the electric current is conducted into the electric grid and then into our homes.
You can compare a wind turbine to a bike dynamo: Your pedaling sets the wheel in motion and the dynamo starts to produce electricity. The electric current flows to your bicycle lamp. When you pedal faster, the lamp shines brighter; and when the wind blows stronger, the wind turbine produces more electricity.
