History
Founded in 1996, ABO Wind is with more than 307 megawatts of installed capacity one
of Europe’s most successful developers of wind energy projects.
The founders, Dr. Jochen Ahn and Graduate Engineer (Dipl.-Ing.)
Matthias Bockholt have run the company since its beginning. The company
name was derived from the initials of their last names. Both of them
have long years of experience in the field of renewable energy sources
and have worked in the areas of research, industrial operations and
management.
ABO Wind initially established as limited liability company was converted into a
corporation in 2000 for which a public capital increase was implemented.
Since 2001, ABO Wind shares are traded off-market (OTC) on VALORA
EFFEKTEN HANDEL AG.
International expansion took off in 2001. In this year the first
international subsidiary, ABO Wind ESPAÑA S.A. was founded in Spain. The
French subsidiary ABO Wind SARL with offices in Toulouse, Colmar
and Orléans followed in 2002. The most recent subsidiaries and representatives can
be found in Argentina Energías Renovables S.A, as well as in Belgium, Portugal, Ireland and Great Britain.
Since the beginning of 2008, there are about 80 professionals employed by ABO Wind.
